BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (March 5, 2014) — An internal investigation into members of the Battle Creek Police Department is currently underway, according to the Battle Creek Enquirer.
The investigation comes after the recent appointment of interim chief Jim Blocker, who told the Enquirer it was a “pending personnel matter.”
The focus of the investigation is unclear at this time.
Blocker was appointed from detective to interim chief following Chief Jackie Hampton’s retirement in January. According to the Enquirer, Blocker met Wednesday with Interim City Manager Susan Bedsole, Director of Employee Relations Russ Claggett and other “senior staff” about the investigation.
There have been several controversies in the Battle Creek Police Department in recent months, including corruption allegations from city commissioners and incidents involving officers drunk driving.
