GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (March 3, 2014) — Police are searching for whomever struck and killed a pedestrian, then fled the scene of the accident on Monday morning.
The accident happened shortly before 7:00 a.m. at Michigan Street and Bel-Air Drive. Police say a 63-year-old woman was walking on Michigan St. in the bike lane when she was struck. They believe she was on her way to her job on Oak Industrial Drive. The victim was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The suspect drove away after striking the pedestrian. There were no witnesses, so officers are relying on vehicle debris for a partial description of the vehicle they are looking for: a tan Ford, unknown model year.
The west-bound lanes of Michigan Street were closed as police investigated the incident. Anyone with information on this accident is asked to call the Grand Rapids Police Department.
