COLDWATER TOWNSHIP, Mich. (Feb. 22, 2014) – Michigan State Police are investigating a crash that left one man dead Saturday afternoon in Branch County.
It happened just after 3 p.m. when 75-year-old Bobby King of Coldwater was traveling west on US-12 and attempting to turn left on Nash Road. Michigan State Police Troopers say he was headed home.
That’s when a semi-truck hit King’s vehicle from behind causing it to spin out of control into oncoming traffic. Officials say that his car collided head-on with a second vehicle.
The driver of that car, 64-year-old Robin Shaw, also from Coldwater, was treated for minor injuries. Her son was also in the car at the time of the crash but was uninjured.
Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the crash, according to a release from Michigan State Police.
Troopers are sending their investigation to the Branch County Prosecutor’s Office for further review of the case and determine if any charges will be filed.
