WACO, Texas (February 19, 2014) — College football’s new postseason look launches this upcoming season – and one of West Michigan’s premiere companies will be the face of some of the sport’s biggest assets.
On Wednesday, Amway announced a new partnership with USA TODAY Sports and the American Football Coaches Association. The company – founded by Rich De Vos and Jay Van Andel in 1959 and whose headquarters are still in Ada – will be the new title sponsor of the USA Today Coaches Poll (now the Amway Coaches Poll), which establishes the ranking of the top 25 teams.
The AFCA Coaches Trophy – the iconic Waterford Crystal football – will now be presented by Amway and awarded to the national champion.
Also new to 2014 will be the Amway Fan Poll, allowing fans to cast their own Top 25 votes to see how they stack up against the experts in the Amway Coaches Poll.
The sponsorship is set for three years, with an option for another two.
Division 1 college football will be introducing a new playoff system at the conclusion of the 2014 regular season.
