SPARTA, Mich. – More than one thousand Consumer’s Energy customers lost power Friday afternoon in northern Kent County.
Sixteen-hundred customers were without service for several hours Friday. Most of the outages were in the Sparta area.
According to the Consumer’s Energy Outage Map, the power went out at around 3pm.
“We’re still investigating but initial reports indicate a very large piece of ice fell from a building in Sparta, in the area, of Averill Street NW, into a primary line. We don’t have an estimated time of restoration yet,” said Roger Morgenstern, Senior Public Relations Director at Consumer’s Energy.
