ANGOLA, Ind. — Hope College defeated Trine University on Satuday 67-56, improving to 6-1 in MIAA play, but it was a play at the end of the first half that’s getting a lot of attention.
Senior forward Grant Neil, the youngest son of head coach Matt Neil, caught an inbounds pass right around the Flying Dutchmen’s own three-point line and heaved a three-quarters-court shot that hit nothing but net as time expired to give Hope a 39-28 lead at the half. Neil finished with five points in 28 minutes.
