ROBINSON TOWNSHIP, Mich – A Kentwood woman is dead following a two vehicle crash along Lake Michigan Drive Monday evening.
Deputies with the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash along Lake Michigan Drive just west of 104th Avenue around 7:15 p.m.
A 2004 Chevy Malibu driven by a 69-year-old woman from Kentwood was eastbound on Lake Michigan drive when it appears her vehicle crossed the center line and collided with a 2003 Chevy Tahoe driven by a 24-year-old from Grand Haven.
The female driver in the Malibu was trapped in her vehicle and had to be extricated by first responders. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Tahoe was treated for bumps and bruises at the scene and later released, telling investigators he had little to no time to react to the Malibu crossing the center line, causing a near head-on collision.
Investigators say road conditions don’t appear to be a factor at this point in the investigation. Alcohol doesn’t appear to be a factor in the crash either, which remains under investigation by the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.
