Man Charged In Ferris State Shooting

BIG RAPIDS, Mich.- A man has been charged in the shooting of a Ferris State University student.

According to the Ferris State University Department of Public Safety, Decory DeMarco Downing a 21-year-old male from the Mt. Clemens area has been charged with attempted murder and a felony firearm charge in connection with the shooting early Saturday morning.

Downing is not a student at Ferris State.

Downing was found in an apartment on Finch Court, after a day long search for the suspect that turned up the suspect’s vehicle and a gun.

The Mecosta County Sheriff’s Department believe that Downing will be in court on Monday to face his charges.

The victim has been released from the hospital.
