ROCKFORD, Mich – Rockford Public Safety continues to investigate a crash that sent an elderly couple to the hospital Thursday afternoon in Rockford.
It happened at the intersection of 11 Mile Road and Courtland Drive around 1:30 p.m.
Investigators say it appears the vehicle the elderly couple was in pulled out into the roadway, hitting a semi-trailer, lodging their vehicle underneath.
Both the man and woman in the car had to be extricated from the vehicle and were transported to the hospital.
Investigators say both are in their 90’s, but their names and exact conditions haven’t been released.
The semi-truck driver involved wasn’t hurt.
Investigators closed the intersection for several hours to help determine what led up to the crash, which remains under investigation.
