MANKATO, Minn — While most of the hockey world was fixated on a line brawl in Vancouver, there was another hockey brawl Saturday night that featured a team from West Michigan.
Ferris State was visiting Minnesota State for the second straight night, and around the midpoint of the third period a massive brawl started out behind the Ferris State net. A total of three fighting major penalties, eight misconducts, and three disqualifications were called. For the entire game, the two teams combined for 216 penalty minutes on 43 infractions.
Minnesota State defeated the Bulldogs 4-3 Saturday night to sweep the two-game set in Mankato. Ferris State dropped for second to sixth in the national rankings as a result this week.
