Grand Rapids Man Hit By A “Stray” Bullet After Altercation At A Pool Hall

HOLLAND, Mich- A 30-year old Grand Rapids man is recovering in a local Holland hospital after being hit by a stray bullet after several shots were in the area of the Golden 8 Ball pool hall.

According to the Holland Department of Public Safety, police were sent to the area of 11th street and River Avenue on reports of shots fired in that area. When police arrived, they found several people in the area of the Golden 8 Ball pool hall as well as several shell casings in a parking lot of a church in that area.

The people at the scene would not cooperate with investigators or provide any details of what had occurred.

Later that evening the Holland Department of Public safety got a phone call from Holland Community Hospital, saying that a man arrived at the hospital with a gunshot wound. Police spoke with the 30-year old man who only provided limited information saying that he was not apart of the shots fired incident and was struck by a “stray” bullet.

The victim was shot in the chest and has non-life threatening injuries.

The case remains under investigation but at this time it is unknown what the motivation for the shooting was or if it was gang related.
