STANTON, Mich. — Montcalm County Commission will consider a merger between the Howard City Police Department and the Montcalm County Sheriff’s Department, according to County Controller-Administrator Chris Hyzer.
There was a unanimous vote Monday night during the Law Enforcement and Courts Committee meeting, according to Hyzer.
The county commission will take up the issue during a Jan. 27 meeting.
Hyzer said that in his opinion the merger would be mutually beneficial for both departments but added it’s still premature to speak on the specifics of it.
