OTTAWA COUNTY, Mich. — A former Wyoming police officer was sent to prison Monday afternoon for pointing a gun at Holland police officers last July.

In Ottawa County Circuit Court, Mark Charles Armstrong, 55, was sentenced to two years in prison on a felony firearms charge followed by two concurrent sentences of from 13 to 48 months in prison on felonious assault charges.

Armstrong was convicted of the three counts in November.

Armstrong was taken into custody shortly after 10 p.m. July 26, 2013, after waving a gun at Holland officers and then leading them on a 15-minute chase.

According to police, the search for Armstrong began at about 8:30 p.m. that day after he threatened his ex-girlfriend and other acquaintances over the telephone.

Armstrong was terminated from the Wyoming police force in February 2011 after a 26-year career for violating department rules and regulations, according to Wyoming Police Capt. Kim Koster.
