STANTON, Mich. – A 13-month-old girl was hospitalized at Gerber Memorial Hospital in Fremont over the weekend as a man now stands charged for allegedly abusing her.
Twenty-six-year-old Sean Griffin, Howard City, was formally charged Monday afternoon by video in Montcalm County. He was arraigned on one count of first degree child abuse which carries a maximum penalty of life in prison.
Michigan State Police said the baby was hospitalized over the weekend after the mother noticed injuries she claimed happened while the baby was in the care of her live-in boyfriend, Sean Griffin.
FOX 17 confirmed the couple shares an apartment in the 700 block of Walnut Street in Howard City. We checked Griffin’s criminal record. It came back clean.
The baby is recovering from three broken ribs including bruising in the head, face and abdomen.
