Sex Offender Sentenced for Wyoming Park Incident

Posted

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Chad Servis was sentenced Thursday to between 34 months and 20 years in prison for accosting children in a Wyoming park last summer.

Servis, 42, pleaded guilty Dec. 2 to two counts of accosting a child for immoral purposes.  He was also charged as a habitual offender.

He was arrested June 29 after he approached three underage boys at Ideal Park.  The boys left home and told family members, who located and detained him until officials arrived.

As part of the plea deal, prosecutors agreed to drop charges of using a computer to commit a crime and possession of child sex abuse material.

Servis is a registered sex offender who was released from prison in 2011 after serving more than eight years for sex crimes, including ones similar to what he did in this case.
