GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – In a rare move, West Michigan’s largest public school district cancelled classes for Tuesday after shutting down already Monday.

About eight to 10 inches of snow fell in Grand Rapids Sunday and into Monday, said FOX 17 Meteorologist Kevin Craig, prompting the district to cancel classes Monday.

Grand Rapids Public Schools typically closes about once every school year, said a GRPS spokesperson Sunday evening.
