HOLLAND, Mich. — Snow continues to fall in downtown Holland.  Although the weather is not ideal for driving, many local residents were out walking to get their exercise ahead of the brutal cold temperatures that are expected later.

The snow melt system in downtown Holland that helps to warm the streets and sidewalks was helping to keep the roads clearer than on the outskirts of town where the streets were snow and ice-covered.

The emergency manager for Ottawa County is out of town on business but was monitoring the situation.  She said that they were not planning on declaring a state of emergency at this time.  She said the Red Cross is on standby in case warming shelters are needed.
