FRUITPORT TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Procrastinating shoppers across west Michigan hit up area shopping centers on Monday night, checking off items on their Christmas lists.
For many of them, the snow caught them off guard, but with Christmas just two days away, they had no other choice.
The Lakes Mall in Muskegon County was filled with last minute shoppers. Many said they wait to finish their holiday shopping until just before Christmas every year.
For the Peseka family, the mall was just one of many stops.
“The roads are so bad and there was a couple accidents on the highway. We had to take an alternate route to get to where we were going because of the weather, and just take extra time and be patient,” said Traci Peseka.
Amanda Morse works at the Lakes Mall, she said that she wasn’t looking forward to scraping the ice and snow off of her car, but knew well ahead of time that the snow was on its way.
“All I heard today is it won’t stop snowing. The roads are terrible. I’m like cool, cool. I think I’d rather work here longer then,” said Morse.
