Nearly 70,000 Still Without Power in West Michigan

KENT COUNTY, Mich. — After an ice storm early Sunday morning, roughly 68,400 people were still without electricity in West Michigan as of 10 p.m.

Kent and Barry counties are experiencing a bulk of the outages, with a combined total of about 38,000 people affected. For the latest,check Consumers Energy’s outage map.

Statewide, more than 208,000 people are without power statewide, according to Consumers.

Full totals around West Michigan and expected restoration times:

  • Kent County: 17,865. Northern Kent County expected to be restored Tuesday, Eastern on Wednesday and Western Kent and greater Grand Rapids on Thursday.
  • Barry County: 20,007.  Expected restoration: Friday.
  • Calhoun: 9,771. Expected restoration: Friday.
  • Kalamazoo: 6,337. Expected restoration: Thursday.
  • Allegan: 5,536. Expected restoration: Tuesday.
  • Ionia: 5,268. Expected restoration: Wednesday.
  • Montcalm:1,891. Expected restoration: Wednesday.
  • Ottawa: 1,778.  Some portions may not be restored until Saturday.
