HARTFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A 48-year-old man was arrested in Van Buren County’s Hartford Township, after crashing his Jeep Grand Cherokee into a house.
Deputies say the driver was headed west on 66th Avenue, when he lost control because of slippery roads and the effects of alcohol. The driver spun into the yard and hit the house.
Deputies say the driver admitted to drinking four to five beers over a short period of time before the crash. A breath test showed his blood alcohol content to be .103, but a chemical test produced a result of .16. The legal limit is .08. The home is damaged, but the Jeep has minor damage to the front.
The driver was taken to the Van Buren County Jail on the charge of operating while intoxicated, and the investigation was turned over to the prosecutor’s office.
No one was injured, and the driver’s name has not been released.
