KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Kristy Lafountain was found safe in Kalamazoo Friday evening after being reported missing Thursday.
Lafountain, 16, of Martin, sent her family a Facebook message Wednesday that she was “safe but far away” and would call later.
As of Thursday evening the missing Martin teen still hadn’t called them, and Michigan State Police sought the public’s help locating her.
According to a release, Lafountain was apprehended in Kalamazoo as a runaway and turned over to family.
Police said they will investigate those who “knowingly aided in her flight,” but said that they have determined that none of her classmates assisted her.
