GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Patrick Eaves isn’t really an AHL player. He’s only with the Grand Rapids Griffins thanks to the Detroit Red Wings salary cap crunch.
Eaves isn’t pouting though about being stuck riding buses in a league known for its mostly weekend play. Instead, he’s proving that he really does belong in the NHL.
Eaves has six points (4 G, 2 A) in eight games with the Griffins so far. Along with Jordin Tootoo, Eaves has been an outstanding example for the Griffins younger players on what it takes to play at the highest level and says he’s enjoying his time in Grand Rapids.
