POLKTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A Sand Lake teen is in critical condition Tuesday after a two-vehicle crash on westbound I-96.
The crash happened at 1:20 p.m. west of 68th Avenue in Ottawa County’s Polkton Township. The highway shut down for nearly three hours following the accident.
A 40-year-old Illinois man lost control of his semi-truck and collided with 19-year-old Cody Stanbaugh’s vehicle.
The semi-truck driver was cited for driving too fast for icy conditions, according to Ottawa County officials.
Stanbaugh was taken to an area hospital and is in serious condition.
