PORTAGE, Mich. – Police say a Kalamazoo man is in jail after crashing into a home and leaving the scene.
Just after 12:30 Thursday morning, Police responded to a call saying that a vehicle had crashed into the home on Pittsford Avenue at Cranston Street in Portage. The 22-year-old suspect left the scene, in the car, before officers arrived.
According to a press release, the car was traveling north on Cranston Street when the driver lost control and crashed into the corner of the home. The Portage Department of Public Safety says that people were in the home at the time of the crash, but no one was hurt.
Officials found the vehicle, a 2006 Ford Fusion, in the 5700 block of Meredith Street. Police say they located the driver at a nearby residence.
The suspect was drinking before the crash, according to police, and he was arrested for operating while intoxicated.
