Grand Rapids, Mich. — According to a news release the respiratory care department that serves Spectrum Health Blodgett Hospital, Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital and Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital has been named the best respiratory department in the U.S. The recognition was announced as one of the 13th annual National Respiratory Achievement Awards by Advance Healthcare Network.
The department was selected among hundreds of nominations. According to Advance, nominations hinged on excellence, job performance and going above-and-beyond the duties of the average department. In addition, departments were judged on their teamwork, innovative programs and their efforts to celebrate their staff.
“Our respiratory care team does an extraordinary job each day. Their dedication to their patients and profession is exemplary,” said Kevin Splaine, president, Spectrum Health Grand Rapids. “To have them recognized as the best in the country is an honor.”
Advance cited Spectrum Health’s respiratory care department for their work on multi-disciplinary teams, their emphasis on safety and the importance they place on education and recognition of accomplishments.
