MUSKEGON HEIGHTS, Mich. — Seventeen-year-old Vance Thompson is facing charges related to the fatal shooting of another 17-year-old in Muskegon Heights, the Muskegon County Prosecutor’s Office announced Thursday.
Thompson was charged with involuntary manslaughter, tampering with evidence and felony firearm possession related to the shooting death of Charles White Jr.
The manslaughter charge carries a potential 15 years in prison. If convicted on all counts, Thompson could spend as much as 27 years behind bars.
White died in the hospital 9:30 p.m. Wednesday. He was shot in the head at around 8 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Hume and Leahy Streets in Muskegon Heights.
