ROCKFORD, Mich. — An ongoing criminal investigation is underway at Rockford High School involving students sexting.

According to Superintendent Mike Shibler, inappropriate pictures were shared among students with their phones.  He said the Kent County Sheriff’s Department is trying to determine whether students sent those pornographic images during the school day.

The pictures initially surfaced during the summer, just before Labor Day, but school officials only recently became aware of them.  Shibler said that the district has had seminars to bring awareness about sexting to both parents and students.

More details about the case will be released pending the outcome of the investigation.
