SARANAC, Mich. — A teacher at Saranac High School is under investigation by the Ionia County Sheriff’s Department after reports they were having an inappropriate relationship with a student.
Deputies say they first received a tip about the alleged relationship Nov. 6. The teacher’s name is not being released at this time and the investigation is ongoing.
Superintendent Maury Geiger said that the school notified authorities the same day the district was made aware of the allegations. According to that letter sent to parents, the staff member is currently on paid administrative leave.
“We take this very seriously and we want our parents to know we are still here for kids and we are going to provide a safe caring learning environment for them and if they have any questions they are welcome to contact me personally,” said Geiger.
Anyone with information on this situation is asked to contact Ionia County Sheriff’s Department at 616-527-5363.
