GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — According to the law firm representing former Grand Rapids city clerk Lauri Parks, a discrimination lawsuit is “in the process” of being filed against the city of Grand Rapids.
Parks, an African-American, served as city clerk for more than 5 years. City commissioners voted 6-1 not to renew her contract in early October of this year. Commissioners cited a lack of improvement regarding her “job performance.” Deputy city clerk Darlene O’neal is now the acting city clerk.
An employee with Parker, McGruder, and Associates out of Bloomfield Hills told FOX 17 on Friday that a lawsuit is “in the process” of being filed. What the lawsuit entails hasn’t been released yet.
