EAST GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The sixth annual Gobble Wobble, presented by Gazelle Sports, will take place on Thanksgiving Day, November 28, 8 am at East Grand Rapids Middle School. Last year more than 2,000 people started their holiday by participating in the 4.1 mile fun run or 1 mile kids Widdle Wobble. The event raised $10,000 for Kids’ Food Basket, a nonprofit organization based in Grand Rapids with a mission to attack childhood hunger.
The Gobble Wobble is an untimed fun run. Runners, walkers, strollers and leashed dogs are welcome. Race director, Michelle Schiefen, has made participating in this event a holiday tradition. “It’s a great way to get the whole family, including out-of-town visitors, together to promote healthy living,”
Schiefen says.
By request, the post run pie eating contest will be back for five lucky contestants who are looking to indulge. All participants will be able to enjoy donuts and cider from Robinette’s Apple Haus following the run.
“It’s fun to see the community come together to take part in this event,” says Ashley Abbott, Outreach and Development Coordinator for Kids’ Food Basket. “Kids’ Food Basket is 100% privately funded, so partners like Gazelle Sports allow us to make a difference in the community.”
