GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.- Thousands of people in West Michigan are waking up without power this morning after strong winds overnight and early Saturday morning.

According to Consumers Energy, at least 3,000 people are without power in Muskegon County. They say more than 2,000 residents are also affected in Ottawa and Kent Counties. Ottawa County Dispatchers say they have reports of at least 2 to 3 dozen trees down this morning and Kent County officials say they have had a lot of reports of arcing and sparking wires.

Consumers Energy does want to remind you that you should stay away from downed power lines including pets. If you see downed lines, call 911 or Consumers Energy to report them.
