KENT COUNTY, Mich. — Scott Hammer was charged Thursday with open murder in the death of his 29-year-old girlfriend.
Hammer, 51, was arrested in Montcalm County Wednesday morning after he allegedly killed Danielle Scholten-Linderman in Kent County and then fled. He also allegedly set their Sheridan farmhouse on fire.
Court documents show that Hammer confessed to the murder. A friend also tells FOX 17 that he allegedly texted him after he committed the crime, saying, “Thanks for being a great friend. Sorry I couldn’t be a better one.”
Scholten-Linderman leaves behind two children ages 7 and 9. Her funeral is scheduled at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 28 at Greenville Community Church.
