KALAMAZOO, Mich.– A 21-year-old Traverse City man is now facing murder charges in the death of his Kalamazoo girlfriend’s 14-month-old child last December.
Toren Hains is facing charges of open murder, felony murder and first-degree child abuse, the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Department announced Monday.
Deputies responded to an apartment on 11th Street in December and discovered the injured child, who died one day later at Bronson hospital. An autopsy was completed in June and Hains was taken into custody the first week of October. His next court date is scheduled for Oct. 31.
