ROSCOMMON County, Mich. — Deputies in Roscommon County continue to look for Michael Trute, 20, and Ashley Carpenter, 19.
Trute and Carpenter attended the walk right bible institute at Camp Co-Be-AC. That’s in Denton Township. The pair were last seen Thursday night around 9:30. They were reported missing about 6 hours later.
Trute is from Ravenna, which is in Muskegon County. FOX 17 spoke with his father on the phone. The elder Trute said he hasn’t slept in two days and that he’s physically and emotionally exhausted from worrying about his son.
Carpenter is from Davison which is in Genessee County. She and Trute appeared to enjoy the camp as their Facebook posts and her pictures from the summer and fall indicate.
The camp issued this statement on its website:
“This weekend, two students were reported missing from our campus. We have informed the authorities and are working closely with them to locate the students as soon as possible. Our main concern is finding them quickly. Our thoughts and prayers are for this young man and woman’s safe return.”
The sheriff’s department doesn’t believe there’s any foul play involved. Trute is about 6’0 and weighs 165 pounds. The sheriff’s department said he was last seen wearing a gray shirt and blue jeans.
Carpenter is about 5’0 and weighs 140 pounds. She had on a purple jacket, a black skirt, with pink socks and black shoes.
According to the department, Trute and carpenter don’t have any transportation, they have little cash on hand, and they don’t know anyone outside of the camp. Anyone with information is urged to call the Roscommon Sheriff’s Department at 989-275-5101.
FOX 17 spoke with a deputy late Sunday night. A search will continue until midnight and likely start back up in the morning.
