HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A man was taken into custody shortly after he allegedly used a knife to rob a party store Thursday afternoon.
At 1:52 p.m., the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of an armed robbery at AJ’s Party Store at 12059 Felch St. in Holland Township. Witnesses said a man entered the store, located at the corner of 120th and Felch, approached a clerk, displayed a knife, demanded money, obtained an undetermined amount of cash and left the store.
The clerk gave deputies a description of the suspect and vehicle. A deputy recalled a traffic stop where he had made contact with that vehicle and driver earlier in the week. Deputies soon located the vehicle at 16th Street and Country Club Avenue in Holland. A 28-year-old Holland man was inside the vehicle and he was taken into custody and transported to jail without incident.
The man is being held on armed robbery charges. The suspect’s name is being withheld pending arraignment in court on Friday.
The incident remains under investigation by the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.
