DETROIT, Mich. — An anticipated decision on same-sex marriage in Michigan was further delayed Wednesday after U.S. District Judge Bernard Friedman decided to send the case to trial.

According to FOX 2’s Amy Lange, a trial will begin Feb. 25 to determine the outcome of lesbian couple April DeBoer and Jayne Rowse’s case challenging the validity of the Michigan’s ban on same-sex marriage.

Attorneys for both the couple and the state spoke in U.S. District Court Wednesday, but Judge Friedman decided not to rule on the case until it went to trial. A written opinion of this ruling will be posted online some time Wednesday.
