KALAMAZOO, Mich.- A 27-year-old Kalamazoo man is dead after fleeing police. It happened just after 3 a.m. on Saturday morning.
Police say they tried to pull him over in the 1300 block of Krom St. on suspicion of drunken driving when he sped away. Officers gave up trying to stop him and the driver eventually ran a stop sign on E. Paterson St. and N. Riverview Dr. and collided with a stone wall around Riverside cemetery.
The 27-year-old had to be cut out of his car and officers tried to save him but he died at the scene. Police are still investigating and his name is not being released until family members are notified.
