FREEMAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. — An elderly man who was reported missing Wednesday night was foundnorthwest of Clare, lying in water, unable to walk — but conscious.
Duane Duchamp, 81, suffers from dementia. He had last been seen at around 6:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Lake of the Pines subdivision in Clare County’s Freeman Township. Police say he had walked away from his home.
At approximately 12:30 a.m. Thursday, Michigan State Police troopers found Duchamp in a swampy wooded area roughly a half-mile from his residence. They called for additional help due to his inability to walk at the time. Duchamp was then taken to the hospital for treatment for exposure.
