KALAMAZOO,Mich. — Detectives are asking the public for assistance on locating Stanley Allen Rice. Please contact the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety or the Kalamazoo Township Police Department with any information on Mr. Rice.
According to a press release on October 5 around 7 p.m. officers from the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety responded to the Family Dollar store located at 1261 Portage Rd. for an armed robbery. An unknown subject entered the store, brandished an object under his shirt and robbed the store of an undetermined amount of cash. The subject fled the store on foot.
On October 8 at around 10 a.m. officers responded to the Sunny Mart at 2020 E. Cork St. in reference to an armed robbery. A subject entered the store, indicated he had a weapon and robbed the clerk of an undetermined amount of cash. The subject fled the store on foot to a waiting vehicle. And then around 1:30 p.m. officers responded to 812 Shoppers Lane in the City of Parchment in reference to another armed robbery. The subject entered the store, brandished a knife and stole an undetermined amount of cash. The suspect fled on foot to a waiting vehicle driven by another subject.
According to police the subjects fled in a vehicle that was located by police driving on Paterson St. near Riverview St. An attempt was made to stop the vehicle, the driver Aquarius Walker a 42 years old Kalamazoo resident, failed to stop. A short pursuit ensued and eventually the driver, Mr. Walker, and the passenger, later identified as Stanley Rice, a 39-year-old Kalamazoo resident, both fled on foot. Mr. Walker was arrested after falling into the Kalamazoo River while Mr. Rice escaped.
On October 9 charges were authorized against Aquarius Walker by the Kalamazoo County Prosecutor’s Office for 2 counts of armed robbery, breaking and entering a building, accessory after the fact, fleeing and eluding and resisting and obstructing police. Mr. Walker was arraigned on October 9 in 8th District Court.
On October 9 charges were authorized against Stanley Allen Rice, age 39 by the Kalamazoo County Prosecutor’s Office for 3 counts of armed robbery and 1 count of resisting and obstructing police. This 4 count arrest warrant was signed by detectives on October 10 officers are currently attempting to locate Mr. Rice.
