PENNFIELD TOWNSHIP,Mich. — According to the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department on September 30 around 10:30 a.m. a Battle Creek man walked into the Chemical Bank located at 1295 Capital Avenue NE in Pennfield Township and demanded money. The man also implied that he had a weapon on him. Bank tellers gave the man an undisclosed amount of money and the man fled the bank getting into a vehicle which was waiting for him on Bradley Street.
A Pennfield Township resident witnessed the robbery and followed the suspect vehicle calling 911 and updating the responding deputies. Deputies were able to catch up with the suspect vehicle and take the suspect into custody without incident.
When searching the suspect, deputies found a large amount of currency on him which matched what was taken in the robbery. The suspect was interviewed by detectives and confessed to robbing the bank.
The suspect was taken to the Calhoun County Jail for Bank Robbery and will be arraigned on October 1st, 2013.
The suspects identity is being withheld pending arraignment.
