BARRY County, Mich. — Saturday afternoon, a skydiving accident sent a woman to the hospital in Hastings.

Emergency crews, including the Barry County Sheriff’s Department responded to the intersection of State and Airport Road. That’s near Hastings Airport.

The nature of the accident and what caused it isn’t known at this point. Those details haven’t been released yet.

Barry County Central Dispatch said that the victim was taken to Pennock Hospital. The hospital wasn’t able to give out any information on the woman’s condition.

Someone familiar with the situation told FOX 17 that the woman was taken to the hospital as a precaution. However, they did not share any more details.

This isn’t the first skydiving accident involving the Hastings Airport.A 40-year old man from Lansing got into an accident last month. He was able to open his chute, but he didn’t have control of it when he hit the ground.

He survived. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) was notified, and the Michigan State Police handled the investigation.
