ALLEGAN COUNTY, Mich. — The man killed in the I-196 semi-truck accident Wednesday morning has been identified as 38-year-old Spring Lake resident Alan Chase.
Chase was driving north at 5:55 a.m. when a truck crossed the median and struck his tractor-trailer head-on. He was killed at the scene, and the Indiana man driving the other vehicle was taken to the hospital with his wife . Both were released shortly after.
The crash closed I-196 for for more than seven hours, opening up at approximately 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.
