PORTAGE, Mich. — The suspect in a recent suspicious death investigation is expected to be arraigned on Monday after an arrest warrant was issued to bring him in on murder charges.
The man has been identified as Clinton Smith. His capture and expected arraignment comes after Delores Smith, 56, was found dead in her apartment at Devonshire Apartments on Thursday night.
Clinton Smith was arrested in Saginaw after reportedly trying to evade police. Officers say he was found hiding under a trailer during the suspect search.
Police records show Smith, 58 was booked on homicide charges Friday by the Portage Police Department. Neighbors of Delores say he is her ex- or estranged husband.
Police tell us a family member called for a welfare check for Delores Smith after she failed to show up for work at the Kalamazoo County Juvenile Home.
An autopsy Friday revealed Delores Smith’s cause of death but police will only say she was not shot.
Neighbors tell us Delores Smith was friendly but mostly kept to herself.
