BELDING, Mich.,–The body of 10-year-old Devon Morrison was discovered Monday afternoon by dive teams during a searching in the Flat River.

Morrison was last seen Saturday morning, and search crews from several organizations, including the FBI, were investigating Sunday and Monday.

According to police, Morrison’s body was discovered near his favorite fishing place by the Ashfield Street Bridge. Police say Devon’s fishing pole was also found nearby.

Within hours of Devon’s body being found, the community started to bring flowers and balloons by the bridge to remember him.

Belding Police Chief Dale Nelson said he will never forget Devon.  “We need to remember Devon for Devon and whatever joy he brought to everyone is a wonderful thing and I feel honored to have been able to spend some time with him.”

It was obvious how much the community has been impacted by Devon, people in town say they always saw him out fishing and he would always say hi.

“Just about two weeks ago I passed him on bridge street here and he had his fishing pole in his hand and I was kind of having a down day and I had asked him anything biting today. He stopped and put his hand on his hip and had a conversation with me like he was a grown up and I am remember laughing, walking away thinking that’s probably the best interaction I’m going to have today,” said Rachel Satterlee.

His exact cause of death will be determined by an autopsy.
