Posted

MANISTEE, Mich- Hundreds of residents in the Manistee area gathered along the road side as the body of fallen Michigan State Trooper Paul Butterfield passed by.

Butterfield honored today at Manistee High School by many who just wanted to find their own way to say thank you. James Pontiac of Manistee walked his three kids down the street from his home near Manistee High School, so they could pay tribute. “I wanted to show my kids how to share gratitude for those who are in service,” Pontiac said.

Many Street were lined with American Flags and signs comforting the Butterfield family.
Trooper Butterfields dad is a retired MSP trooper.

Trooper Butterfield was shot and killed during a traffic stop on Monday. The suspects are 19 year old Eric Knysz and his 20 year old wife Sarah who is 6 months pregnant.
