Kalamazoo Home Gutted By Fire; Dog Dies

KALAMAZOO, Mich- A fire damages a home Saturday night on Palmer street in Kalamazoo. The fire started around 10:50 p.m. in the 1400 block of Palmer street according to the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety.

When officers arrived on scene they found the front porch and living room fully engulfed in flames. Officers were able control the fire within fifteen minutes.

An alert neighbor was able to force open the rear door of the home and save one of the resident’s two dogs. The other dog passed away due to the smoke and was found on the second floor of the home.

The resident was not home at the time of the fire.

The cause and origin of the fire is under investigation by the Kalamazoo Township Fire Marshal.
