Car Accident on US-131 Results In Injury And Missing Dog

US-131 dog crashjpegHOWARD CITY, Mich. — A dog is missing after a pregnant 25-year-old woman from Grawn, MI hit a large walnut tree on US-131 September 3, 1/2 mile south of Cutler road.

The 130 pound Rottweiler dog appears to have traveled through the windshield upon impact, and residents are being asked to call animal control if they spot the missing animal.

The Howard City Police Department responded to the traffic crash to find the victim inside a 2005 Jeep Liberty concealed in heavy brush within a wooded area, not visible from the expressway. She was headed northbound on US-131 when she traveled 300 feet from the roadway for an unknown reason and struck the tree.

The victim was conscious upon police arrival, and taken by ambulance to the hospital. Her injuries are unknown.
