BANGOR TOWNSHIP,Mich. — According to the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department deputies were dispatched to a residence in which a woman had just drowned. CPR was attempted, but the woman was unable to be resuscitated. The woman was at the lake staying with her son when the incident occurred. It was found that she was currently suffering from dementia and Alzheimer’s. Deputies spoke to the son who located his mother in the water, and he advised they went to bed around 10:00p.m. When he got up around 2:00a.m. he checked on her and she was gone. He did find her in the water a short time after that and called 911. An autopsy is being performed, and the incident will remain under investigation. It is believed at this point that there isn’t anything suspicious about the incident.
