MUSKEGON COUNTY, Mich. — Two correctional officers were assaulted by an inmate at the Muskegon County Jail Thursday, according to the Muskegon County Sheriff’s Department.
The officers sustained non-life threatening injuries and were taken to the hospital after 26-year-old Terry Wesley Raap allegedly attacked them with a handmade club-type weapon. The officers, ages 19 and 25, are expected to make a full recovery.
Raap was incarcerated in October 2012 for charges of operating a meth lab and is also a habitual offender. He was charged with assaulting, resisting or obstructing a police officer in October 2005.
