Posted

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.– Michigan lawmakers are joining a nationwide movement to support small businesses.

“Startup Day Across America” is Thursday, August 29. The local event takes place at 1 p.m. at the Start Garden headquarters, located at 50 Louis Avenue in Grand Rapids.

Congressman Gary Peters and Bill Huizenga are two of 50 congressman, nationwide, visiting startup communities.

Start Garden is a Michigan-based group that invests in local business ideas. It’s the latest initiative from Rick DeVos, creator of ArtPrize, launched in April 2012.

Elected officials are meeting with “high potential” startups with the hope of learning more about how to help entrepreneurs from the federal level, as well as learning more about what’s happening in West Michigan.
